चरित्र विरासत में नहीं मिलता

काय-संसथान मनुष्य का स्वनिर्मित नहीं | अन्न भूमि की देन है | पानी बादलों से बरसता है | हवा आकाश में भरी है | पदार्थ प्रकृति ने बनाये हैं | मनुष्य इनका उपयोग भर करता है |  

किन्तु कुछ कार्य ऐसे हैं जिन्हें जन्म-मरण की तरह स्वयं ही सहन या वहन करना होता है |   भोजन स्वयं ही उदरस्थ करना होता है | मल विसर्जन का कष्ट भी स्वयं ही सहन करना पड़ता है |   व्यक्तित्त्व का निर्माण भी ऐसा ही काम है जिसके लिए निजी तन्मयता एवं तत्त्परता का सघन समावेश करने के अतिरिक्त और कोई चारा नहीं |

व्यक्तित्व न तो उत्तराधिकार में मिलता है और न किसी से वरदान में उपलब्ध होता है |

Character cannot be inherited, it must be earned  

Our body is not our own creation. The food we eat is a gift from the earth. The Water is a gift from the clouds. The Air is a gift from the atmosphere. Other materials are given by nature.

A person merely can make use of all these gifts.  

But, like one must take birth and die alone, there are some  duties that one has to perform unaided and alone.    We are our own witness, in some moments of our lives.

We must take and digest our own food. We alone have to deal with the waste produced in our bodies.  

An exercise in character building is also similar, one has to be unconditionally invested in it with full concentration and promptness. It simply cannot be done any other way.

धर्म का अर्थ रिलीजन नहीं |

धर्म के प्रति एक भ्रान्ति इसके अंग्रेजी के अनुवाद ने उत्त्पन्न कर दी, अंग्रेजी में धर्म को ‘रिलीजन’ कहा गया, वास्तव में रिलिजन शब्द से जो ध्वनि निकलती है उससे संकीर्णता का आभास होता है |

‘धर्म’ जब से ‘रिलीजन’ माना जाने लगा तो इसका अर्थ यही लगाया जाने लगा कि यह एक विशेष प्रकार की पूजा-आराधना पद्धति में आस्था-विश्वास रखने वाला तथा एक प्रकार के मार्ग पर यंत्रवत चलने वाला तथा संप्रदाय विशेष है |       

रिलीजन शब्द से एक ऐसे संकुचित व अपूर्ण भाव का बोध होता है की उसमें धर्म तत्त्व समाहित नहीं होता |

धर्म का अनिवार्य तत्त्व उसकी उदारता, महानता, सार्वभौम सत्ता में निहित है

जिसका लक्ष्य ही ” सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः सर्वे सन्तु निरामया ” है

जबकि रिलीजन में इस तरह के भाव प्रकट नहीं होते |

Dharma is not ‘Religion’

A misconception was formed about Dharma when the English word ‘Religion’ was chosen to represent its meaning. The word ‘religion’ gives off a feeling of insular traditionalism.

Mistaking Dharma to be merely religion has led to the misunderstanding that Dharma is just a community of people who have faith in a specific set of prayer rituals that they mechanically follow. This specificity became the essence of Dharma.

The word religion emanates a sense of constriction and incompleteness, too restrictive to capture the essence of Dharma.

Generosity, greatness, universality and catholicity are the essential elements of Dharma, as expressed aptly by Dharma’s goal of “May all be content, may all be free from all limitations”. The word religion does not  evoke similar sentiments.

विचार शक्ति ही भाग्य रेखा

कहा जाता है कि खोपड़ी में मनुष्य का भाग्य लिखा रहता है । इस भाग्य को ही कर्म लेख भी कहते हैं । मस्तिष्क में रहने वाले विचार ही जीवन का स्वरूप निर्धारित करने और सम्भावनाओं का ताना-बाना बुनते हैं । इसलिए प्रकारान्तर से भी यह बात सही है कि भाग्य का लेखा-जोखा कपाल में लिखा रहता है । कपाल अर्थात् मस्तिष्क । मस्तिष्क अर्थात् विचार । अत: मानस शास्त्रप के आचार्यों ने उचित ही संकेत किया है कि भाग्य का आधार हमारी विचार पद्धति ही हो सकती है । विचारों की प्रेरणा और दिशा अपने अनुरूप कर्म करा लेती है । इसलिए भाग्य का लेखा-जोखा कपाल में लिखा रहता है, जैसी भाषा का प्रयोग पुरातन ग्रंथ से करते हुए भी तथ्य यही प्रकट होता है कि कर्तृत्व अनायास ही नहीं बन पड़ता, उसकी पृष्ठभूमि विचार शैली के अनुसार धीरे-धीरे मुद्दतों में बन पाती है ।

It is said that a man’s destiny is written in his head. This destiny is called the blueprint of the future. Only thoughts determine the shape of future life and materialize the possibilities. So, any way we think, it is true that plans for all actions are first created in the forehead only! Forehead means brain, and brain means mind or the thought process. Hence, the preachers of psychology are right in indicating that our future is based upon the style of our thinking. The line of thought and its influence compels one to act accordingly. Therefore, whatever language our scriptures use, the final truth they reveal is, the action is never performed automatically. Its background is always gradually, slowly prepared over a long period of time according to the thought process.

सत्त्प्रवृत्तियॉं सराही जायें

सत्त्प्रवृत्तियॉं सराही जायें

ऐसी सामाजिक रीति-नीति, प्रथा-परम्परा हमें विकसित करनी चाहिए । धन का मान घटाया जाय और मनुष्य का मूल्यांकन उसके उच्च-चरित्र एवं लोक-मंगल के लिए प्रस्तुत किये त्याग, बलिदान के आधार पर किया जाये । सभी को सम्मान इसी आधार पर मिले । कोई व्यक्ति कितना ही धनी क्यों न हो इस कारण सम्मान प्राप्त न कर सके कि वह दौलत का अधिपति है । उचित तो यह है कि ऐसे लोगों का मूल्य और सम्मान लोक-सेवियों की तुलना में बहुत घटाकर रखा जाय । धन के कारण सम्मान मिलने से लोग अधिक अमीर बनने और किसी भी उपाय से पैसा कमाने को प्रेरित होते हैं । यदि धन का सम्मान गिर जाय, संग्रह को कंजूसी और स्वार्थपरता का प्रतीक मानकर तिरस्कृत किया जाय तो फिर लोग धन के पीछे पागल फिरने की अपेक्षा-सामाजिक सम्मान प्राप्त करने के लिए सत्कर्मों की और प्रवृत होने लगेंगे ।

सादगी को सराहा जाय और उद्धत वेशभूषा एवं भडक़ीली श्रृंगार-सज्जा एवं चित्र-विचित्र बनावट को ओछेपन का प्रतीक माना जाय और जो बचकानी श्रृंगारिकता, भौंड़ी फैशन, अर्द्धनग्ना, हिप्पी साज-सज्जा पनपी है उसे तिरस्कृत किया जाना चाहिए । केवल सत्त्प्रवृत्तियॉं सराही जायें, उन्हीं की चर्चा की जाये और उन्हीं को ही सम्मानित किया जाय ।

Good nature doesn’t cost anything

Selfless and generous individuals are often tricked by cunning people and as a result, they may usually seem to be at disadvantage. On the other hand, many people—influenced by their generosity—offer them so much help and support that the disadvantage of being tricked by cunning people more or less gets eclipsed by the advantage of reaping help and support from many people. All in all, selfless and generous individuals are always at advantage.

In the same way, selfish people may not bother to help others and in doing so, they may avoid losing anything. However, their selfish nature discourages other people from offering help, thus depriving them of that crucial advantage. To put in a nutshell, mean and selfish individuals would generally suffer greater loss than generous and good-natured individuals.

Corrupt traders who follow double-standards are never seen prospering. Selfish, egoistical and bad-mannered people who expect others to be good to them and help them are actually behaving in the same way as the corrupt traders having double-standards. Such behavior can never ever lead to progress and happiness in life.
